Welcome to the Taunton constituency Liberal Democrat website.

Taunton constituency covers a wide area, taking in the whole of Taunton
Deane and a large swathe of Exmoor. That includes Taunton itself, as well
as Wellington, Wiveliscombe, Bishops Lydeard, Milverton and Dulverton. The
area is also well known for its Somerset villages and countryside, and
includes both the Blackdown and Quantock Hills.

Taunton constituency is the number one target seat for the Liberal
Democrats in the whole of Britain. At the last General Election, in June
2001, the Conservatives won Taunton by just 235 votes over the Liberal Democrats, with Labour in a distant third place. Our prospective parliamentary candidate is Jeremy Browne, who lives in Taunton and is a high profile campaigner across the constituency.

The Liberal Democrats are also the significant force in local government
in the constituency. We have a large number of councillors on Taunton
Deane Borough Council and are the majority party on Somerset County
Council, which has its headquarters in the centre of Taunton.
